I rejoined the Cast Bullet Associaton thinking I might get involved in their Postal Matches. I have good rifles for both their Military and Military Modified Iron classes.
Looking over the records, it seems like Lylman 311299 is the current favorite in the 03s and 03A3s. Any comments or perspectives on this bullet vs. the old stand by 311284. I don't see it being used.
Both my Remington 4 groove 03A3 and my feaux Smith-Corona NRA Sporter need the bore riding nose to be .301 for best results. How big are these 311299 in that areas.
It looks like two 10 shot groups (100 yards) in the 1.3 to 1.5 inch area will get you in the top three in these class of matches. While a challenge to 64 year old eyes and loading practice, this level of accuracy is well withing the capabilities of my rifles.
Anyway..comments on 311292 vs. 311284 appreciated. The RCBS 165 SIL is another top bullet. I have this mold and it is a proven performer in my 30-06s.
