Well, to kick off the new forum, how's about a question....

Has anyone shot the Aguila Super Sniper Subsonic rounds in a 1:9 or similar quick twist barrel? How'd they shoot?

..............I have a Stevens 84C that shoots them quite well. It has the standard 22LR 16" twist. However I also have a Martini, Rem 582, Rem 581, CZ452, Ruger MkII 678, and Charter Arms Pathfinder that will all shoot the SSS's with various levels of disdain. Are you thinking of getting one of the fast twist barrels?

I've been looking around for a 1:9 barrel to fit a 10-22 that's under $200 for a few years now. I haven't found one yet. A standard twist 10-22 puts them through the paper sideways at 25 feet.

I'm looking for a new barrel to act as a dedicated platform for a suppressor. The 10/22 with a 1:9" twist barrel seems like a no brainer. I might get a blank and have it fitted to the 10/22.

...............Brownells lists a barrel for the Aguila 60gr SSS, but IIRC it's faster then the standard 16" twist but isn't 9".

There is/was a place in either Montana or Idaho that was/is making a drop in for the 10/22 foe around $140.00.
I've still got mine, brand new in the wrap.
I'm going to get it fitted to a new Savage with an Accu-trigger.

A little off topic, but this is the 22 round that I use for firelapping my .22s. I dip the nose in LBT's compund and shoot them. The exposed lead and slower velocity makes it ideal for this purpose.

All of the 22s I have firelapped this way have shown improvement off the bench.

zuke, do you have a name of the place, or any other info?

It's funny, I've shot these in both my stock Ruger 10/22 and a S&W model 41 and they shot fine.. nice round holes and good groups.

Your welcome!
If only I get around to building my dream .22......in time I suppose.

The sss's shoot great from my 10/22 with my green mountain barrel out to about 65 yards. After that I get WILD fliers and random keyholing. I'd like to make a repeatable 100 yard gun with subsonic 40Gr Remington as well as the SSS. I have a feeling that stingers and minimags would suffer, but I can live with a subsonic only rifle.

The SSS shoot very well to 100 yards out of my 7, 9 and 12" twist ARs. I have an original M261 .22LR adaptor kit with 30+ magazine inserts.

In a "normal" twist barrel, I find the SSS shoot better in longer barrels like an old Mossberg with 25-26" barrel. Mossberg = tackdriver, marlin 60 barely stabilizes.
