I lubed my Garand with the last of my Tetra Gun Grease and ordered a can of Lubriplate from Brownells. This morning over coffee, I remembered I had two one pound cans of the above USGI rifle grease. I picked them up 30 plus years ago and paid one buck for both cans.

What do I have here. Is it the right stuff for a Garand or what? I may have spent $17.00 for Lubriplate I didn't need to spend. I hate it when I do that!

Found this on the CMP Forum. Looks like you have plenty of the correct grease on hand.

"The Best Of The Best is GREASE, RIFLE MIL-G-46003 (ORD) AMEND.2 - FSN 9150-754-0063! This is the rifle grease specifically formulated for the M1 Garand, M14, and the M1 Carbine! A one (1) pound can of it will last you a lifetime! NOTE: A 1# can is equal to 190 of the 2.5cc grease cups"

Thanks... I did some checking on Lubriplate and found it to be Mil-Spec G46003. So it is about the same as the GI version. So, that give me 2 pounds of grease, plus the 14 oz of Lubriplate on the way. How does this stuff taste with peanut butter and bread? Seems like I have plenty of it.

Charger, if you eat it with peanut butter and bread it might still serve it's intended purpose, lubrication.

Thanks for posting the info. I bought two cans of the same grease at a local surplus store
that was going out of business for a buck a can. I had no idea what I had.

You could probably use the extra in a lube recipe if your a tinkerer...Ray
