friend brought me an old remington rolling block to see if I could replace some wood in the fore end. it doesn't look like the biggest rolling block action I have ever seen, but the hole in the barrel, is huge. there isn't a lot of barrel metal around the chamber. it doesn't look like it ever had a rear sight. there is a notch in the block, but bore sighting it, it would shoot 2 feet low at 100 yards and the position you would have to be in to shoot it would be hard on your face. the barrel is a 3 or 4 groove and looks like it could have been taken off a musket or something like. the gun don't weigh much over 5 pounds. I didn't measure it but the chamber looks almost as big as a 20 ga. how big did they chamber the rolling block?

are not a plus, they are required.

Description is too vague and the barrel is too thin and yet the gun shoots low.

Details and pictures.

The devil is in the details.

Sounds like a 50-70 to me,, like the 1871 NY Militia RB I got way back when. The furniture was ill-fitted and thin to put it mildly.
It became a 357 Max eventually.

Could be any number of R/B's converted to smoothbore also.
