As well as testing out my .43 Spanish to the range, I also took my H&R Target Model in 38-55! I've been having a hard time getting it to shoot cast well. I loaded some black powder loads, some with 5744, and trail boss. Below is the resulting 50 yard group with a 330gr smokeless lubed boolit sized at 0.380" with Trail Boss. The low flyer is the first round of the group. Unfortunately, one of the loads with 5744 leaded the barrel and the rest of my test loads were all over the place. I am relatively new to using cast, but the challenge is a blast and when you get a load to work it is pretty exciting!

I shot mine today as well. 23gr 4198 in a starline case. Lee 250gr cast bullet made of ww. My group was slightly smaller than yours, but It was at 100yds. Anyway size your bullets to at least 379. I size mine to .380.

BTW the guy I bought the rifle from gave me some loaded rounds of 23gr 4198 with a Cast Performance .380 260gr gas check bullet. They shoot about 2 inches to 1.5 inches at 100yds.

I have one of these rifles and size my bullets to .379. I probably should go larger but neither my mold or sizer will do it. However, the .379 bullets shoot very well giving me about 1.5 moa out to 200 yards with both smokeless and black powder loads.
