I've used WW-760 in my two .338 WM rifles with lighter bullets for years, and have a lot of experimentation data accumulated. I recently acquired a can of H-414, and I suspect it may be the same powder.

Any opinions or experience?

I've read it is the same powder with different burn rates. I got some 10 plus years ago and never found it to be outstanding with anything I tried it in with FLGC bullets, then I tried it in .30-30 with cast boolits. A casefull, 35 grains, RCBS 30-180 FP, lit by Win. Large Primer produces close to 2000 fps and groups 2" at 100 yards in my 336A. Yesterday, same load except using LBT 310165 LFN goes 1953 fps with 1.86" average of 3 groups in my 20" barrel 336SC. -JDL

Just something I cut & pasted from another thread, FWIW:

Yes, 414 and 760 are the same powder, a call to the techs at Hodgdon will verify this, 1-800-622-4366, been there, done that, I know, I've seen load data that says different, that just means that 414 and 760 came from different lots.

I've heard the same as Bug... same thing only different lots. This is the case with many others, if we can believe the scuttlebutt. Like 296 & H110...

Both powders are made by Premex located in FL. Same powder, different nomenclature......... H414 for Hodgdon / W760 for Winchester.

Isn't that the same situation with other powders like 296/H110?
