I have both the Lyman 4500 and Star sizer, I have not got a .459" die for my Star as yet.

I will be contacting Lathesmith when funds allow for a couple of sizing dies to fit the Star.

However, is there a way of utilising my Lyman .459 die in my Star? I have been casting away for my 45/70 and now have four different boolit designs in a larger quantity than I need; not a bad situation!

Thanks for any advice.

Mike

.............Wouldn't work. The Lyman and Star dies are about the same length, but that's about all they share. The Lyman die is .720" at the head ('O' ring end) and it's body diameter is .702".

The Star die's (photo above) sealing shoulders are .750". If you were to make an adaptor to hold the Lyman in the Star, the walls would only be .023" thick. I allowed a thousandth clearence over the nominal .702" Lyman die OD. The walls would be about the same thickness as about 6 sheet's of 20# typing paper :-)
