Well I finially got the old 03A3 shooting again after the stock swap ,I still cant figure out why any of my old accuracy loads wouldnt group in the new stock I was using Unique in the 14-15 gr range with excellent results and I went up and down the ladder with it with no joy ,Anyways I went back to the old standby 2400 and on my first try using 17.5 grs with the RCBS 165 and Lyman 311467 got these results. I'll be back on the Highpower range tomorrow morning, its good to have my favorite rifle shooting well again.

I have found 2400 to be almost a do all powder for my reloading needs along with Unique. For my rifle loads unless it is a plinker load which then the Unique may get the nod or for reloading my 12 guage as unique does well with both as does loads for my 45 Colt which 8 grains of Unique does all I want it to do. 2400 on the other hand fills most all my rifle needs with cast loads for 30/30, 7.5x55, 30/06, and 45/70. 13 grains of it takes care of all my 410 loads for my Encore with a 12 inch pistol barrel. Great powders both of them.

Yup, looks like it is back and in good form. The 03A3s can amaze you at times. I have played with 2400, IMR4895, Unique, BE and Red Dot in mind. I wish I would just settle on one load and quit bouncing around.[smilie=b:

I would say that the way the rifle contacted the first stock vs the second stock is why the differance in accuracy and is why people glass bed their rifles.

Execellent shooting and groups, Tim. Please let us know how your match went. Next month we'll be having our annual July 4th match with the emphasis being on as-issued rifles. I'm trying to decide whether to use one of my stock K-31's or my 03A3. Honestly, I feel my 40+ year old eyes would benefit from the 03A3's sights and your post is encouraging.

Thanks Greg, Well it was a wash out on sunday AM, wind, rain and tornado warnings so I just stayed home:sad: Keep us up to date on your 300 rd. cast boolit scores .Theres a reduced course match near me that goes to 300 and have been meaning to attend ,200 yds I can handle with cast loads its that extra 100 yds that I worry about.let me know how much more elev. you need from 200 to 300 as I still have the issue rear on the rifle but a shorter front blade.

Great target. Unique and 2400 are my favorites, along with 4895 for those other shiny projectiles. I have been using them for years, and find that if you "learn" a powder well you can get the most out of it, just keep experimenting and refining your results. If you find something that works, don't try to fix it

Now there is a statement of truth that most folks will never learn.

I did as most do and had to have a can for every type powder out there ( well seemed that way). Now, I'm down to a few powders that just seem to cover everything I need.
