I loaded up some 12 ga. shells over the last month or so and was finally able to go try them out, this is fun. I loaded these thru a LEE load all with a regular shot shell crimp and fired them thru a Mossberg 500, 20" cyl. bore, bead sight barrel.

LEE 1 oz. slug with .130-.135 cardboard disc under it
Winchester WAA12SL pink wad with the fingers left on
Winchester 209 primer
18.5 grains of Red Dot
Federal hull, not sure of the exact type but it was originally a 3 dram, 1 1/8 oz., 7 1/2 shot shell

I fired six shells at 30 yards and flinched one badly ( about 10" out), five of them grouped roughly 2" on center and the group was roughly 3" on center over the bullseye. They were stout for a 2 3/4 inch shell but weren't abusive. The end result for my first time attempt at slug reloads had me giggling like a little kid, can't wait to load some more.

I made up a batch last weekend and then we went bowling in the back yard. Traditional ten pins layout at 25 yards and even had score cards. Best score was a 44 and only 1 strike the whole game. Even the Mrs. played (and beat me).

Now I may have to check the local bowling alley for old pins.
