I was given a Rem 722 barreled action. So far I have all of the parts to get it back to shooting (stock, trigger guard, screws etc), but I can't find a magazine box. It is the internal type such as a mauser. I found the follower and follower spring and was wondering if a box from a 700 short action would work? Right now it is a single shot .222.

Check Brownells at the bottom of the page for the part numbers.

I dunno, but you can buy a 722 magazine box from Numrich for about $10, but you'll need a spacer of some kind I believe. Billy

The trigger guard and floor plate and magazine box from a short mod 700 will work without modification. The box from a 722 will work with the original trigger guard but is too deep (top to bottom) for the 700 metal and the 700 box is too shallow for the 700 trigger guard group.

I think you can mount that barreled action into a 700 short action stock and use 700 metal with little modification.

I think you'll like the .222, mine is a real tack driver.

the triple duce has a won a many a shootin' match, that's all my uncle would shoot. i never knew what the fuss was about till he let me shoot his one afternoon.wow. you could shoot horse flies at a 100yd, he could not me. but that was a nice gun.

Thanks everyone.
Numrich hasn't had one for some time, I've checked with them off and on for over a year now. Think that I'll order a 700 box and see if It will work or can be modified to work.

I just put a 700 bottom metal on a stock that had the original stamped triggerguard. you have to take an eighth of an inch or so, off the 722 mag box. the 700 bottom metal is inletted into the stock and the 722 fits on the outside with no inletting. the 700 box will be too short to use the 722 guard. I have 2 222 followers, springs. the magazine used a block in the back and the followers and springs are short.
