Even though its been raining every day for a week now & I still haven't finished packing for Raton, I decided to make a little ground squirrel run to let my Alan Harton 480 stretch its legs. I managed to get my truck very muddy but the trip was worth it, this is a very large female badger & the 350 gr LFN really punched her ticket. One shot at about 30 yds as she sneaked along the lava reef & the Harton gun was properly christened!
Fermin, get your crocs on & come shoot a badger!

Dick, did you ever figure out what went wrong with your revolver?

I've been wanting to know that too.

Based entirely on speculation, I think it's either the pawl fitted too tightly in it's slot in the frame, or the locking bolt fitted too tightly. (I want to know what it was too).

Guys, I've been gone for a week to the NRA center at Raton, New Mexico, had a great time & just got back home tonight.
When the gun was cocked fast it wouldn't index correctly, when it was cocked slow it lined up & locked just like we all expect. Alan took the gun apart & didn't like the locking bolt, he rewelded it to make it thicker, then worked it back down to correct size, he also made it more round on top for better engagement, he felt like it was a little too "pointy", I believe he buys these bolts rather than making them himself. This fixed it perfectly & I shot the heck out of it at Raton. There isn't one thing I would change about this gun, for me its perfect.
Now that bear thats running around central Idaho with a rabbits foot in his pocket had better be very careful next spring.....I'm mad!!
