Will someone explain the "plus/minus" associated with a pin gage set? What do I want to be using to check revolver cylinder throats?

Where is the best place to buy a useful set of revolver sizes?

Thank You
Ward

Greetings
Got mine from Harbor freight.
As I understood the minus means they are a shade undersize. The minus set was a couple bucks cheaper when I bought it. I really did not care as I ream to Equalize the cylinders to which ever size is just that bit over bore about .001.
Personally I mike the pin and ignore what is printed to use the size I want.

The plus or minus sets of pin gauges are either 0.0002" undersize or oversize of the stated dimension on the gauge.

The use the .0002 undersize because you need the .0002 for a slip fit. A pin thats exactly
.452 won't slip into an opening thats exactly .452 So undersize kinda does the math for you it figures in needing .0002 for a slip fit. Or at least that's my understanding but some other guy can tell you without a doubt. FB

The MINUS set is what you need. I got mine from Enco. Works real well.

You can find them here: http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PARTPG=INSRAR2&PMAKA=616-8131&PMPXNO=951510

Hope this helps...
