Call me crazy & most will, but have any of you tried making your own black powder?
I have looked on some pyrotechnics sites & many people do for fireworks.

If my wife knew I was thinking about it it would be my Bu##.I talked to a guy
that makes his own fireworks & tells me he can make a lb for about a dollar.

think about it.

Yep, pretty common thing to do for pyros. Ball mills are pretty expensive, but can be made reasonably. Done properly, it's reasonably safe. Done wrong it's a quick way to do yourself in.

I believe it was talked about not that long ago

I made some ....15 - 20 years back just to say I did it
After making it and shooting part of it , the rest was used up in my golf ball cannon

I bought a case of Goex and never looked back

The only way I would do it again , is if decent stuff was outlawed ( including the fake stuff )

We did years ago. Making it isnt to dangerous. Until it starts to dry out.

Id never make any more unless the world has gone to hell in a hand basket.

even then It would be 1/4 mile away from anything I didnt want to lose
