Does anyone have the tread size/count for the internal part of the punch that is used in the Walnut Hill press? I am going to make some punches for my WH press but do not know what thread die I need to order so that they can screw into the punch. I know the outside of the punch is the 7/8"-14, but it is also threaded inside the punch holder .... those are the threads that I am inquiring about.

Thanks,
Sarg

Sarg if you mean the top punch they just have a 1/4-28 hole in the middle. I cant recall why the ID of the punch holder is threaded, mine looks to be 5/8-24

It's thread so that you can adjust the punch and remove the top punch so that it doesn't have to be readjusted next time you go to swage some bullets (at least that is what I understand).

All the top punches I have are just threaded 1/4-28 for the center rod.

No threads on the OD, the die bottoms out on the shoulder of the die.

The die just hangs on the 14-28 threaded rod, "floating" I guess would be the term

(man that knurling looks bad ;) )

Thanks ANeat for the close up .... that answers all my questions. Now out to the shop to try a couple more things.
