Thought I'd let folks know that I've been able to make 8mm gas checks for my LEE boolit using a .4062 diameter disk made from the "Northern Catch" brand of herring fillets that are sold at ALDI's. The aluminum can appears to be .010 thick and results in a nice gas check when using my .309 forming die and a 19/64 drill rod. The checks failed the "fingernail" test, but passed with flying colors when some lock-tite was applied. They are a bit tight on the boolit shank, but square up when pushed through the LEE sizing die.
