has anybody tried taking a internal magazine "like a mossberg 100 atr" and fitted a removable magazine into the action. i know you can get a kit to switch a rem 700 adl into an bdl. i wonder if you can fit that kit into the mossberg stock? any comments would be very helpful.

I would think that if Mossberg made that action in various forms, that's is blind magazine, removable magazine, etc., that it may be able to fit a removable magazine. Savages are like that, in fact I just converted one. Have you tried looking up parts at any of the part suppliers?

i just happened to see the remington conversion and it got me thinking. i normally only work on shotguns and pistols, this is new territory for me. i will have to look at the savage. i wonder if the action is more compatible than the rem. i appreciate the help.

Mauser with 7.62x39 barrel with conversion to WASR single stack mag's - also have standard mag well with delrin block in the back for those times when you don't want to scare people.

How hard was that conversion? I have a 95 Mauser in 7.62x39and a short single stack mag I was thinking of trying to convert.

i spent alot of time at the gun shop measuring and comparing. i think i'm going to do a fixed magazine like a sks. it will be easier and get me back to shooting faster. now i have to decide which 308 mag to use.

FN FALs are very high quality and are all over the world. Many of the AR-10 clones are using them, I have one made by Bushmaster and that is why I bought it.

How hard was that conversion? I have a 95 Mauser in 7.62x39and a short single stack mag I was thinking of trying to convert.

In the end not hard - for actucal construction - not counting all the failed experiments...

I ordered another floor plate assembly, stripped out the existing floor plate and mag parts - put two pins thru the mag well, one for the front of the AK mag to lock onto
and another for the mag release

- you need to put a couple of spacers on either side of the mag release to keep it centered and I used part of a slotted shelving standard to construct it.
Capture the spring inbetween the mag release and rear of mag box, then slip the rear pin in thru a spacer thru the mag release thru other spacer, then put plastic cap on.
in the front used some hobby store u-bake it moldable plastic to form a spacer and super glued in to hold front of mag's in alignment.

Hardest part was makng the extractor work with smaller rimmed cartridge.

Be aware that WASR mags are not held to real close tolerances so you may have to modify so they are more identical than as factory released. :groner:

This probably won't answer your question, but the removeable magazine and bottom metal from a CZ 550 will fit a 98 Mauser.

One of the guys that worked for me had a CZ in .308, we tried his magazine when I was building my 6mm-300WSM. The magazine fed great, but it left a gap of about 1/2" at the rear of the mag. I wanted to use the stock that I already had, so I did not go the easy way of ordering tha CZ bottom metal.

im putting a single stack 788 mag in a 91 and so far it doesnt seem to be too hard using the old bottom metal.

82nd airborne please post some pic's of that - I keep thinking Mosin 91 in 44mag with desert eagle mag being the ruger 77/44 is umpossible to find at a reasonable price and I don't like the limited mag capacity.

Ill do that, ive got it under some junk on my table at this point. ill try to get it dug out and posted. if you dont see it in a few days, pm me and remind me. I like that 44mag idea! would you put some sort of bolt stop to keep it from going so far past the rear of the cartridge or just not worry about it?

I Don't have a bolt stop on the SMLE in 45 ACP doesn't seem to be a handicap.

You could if you want too, heck some have even shortened up the action, but I don't want to have to weld a bolt and the action - too much trouble for me.

Not my sight but I bought my 45 conversion from Richard - His stuff is better than Rhinelands kit which always had ejection problems, this one does much better.

Hey Artful,
here are the pics of the 91, i still havent found the mag, but ill keep looking. I didnt modify the mag any, and the gun only took minimal mods. youll notice the mag release in my hand has been squared off on the top end to mate to the 788 mag and hold it securely. the mag well was opened up as well slightly, it would be better to do this on a mill, but i had to be difficult and do it with a file. i also rounded the trigger gaurd. the stock will have to be opened up slightly, which wasnt a problem for me, since i made it from a piece of wood from my dad's sawmill. hope this helps. the pictures are bad quality, when i find that mag or buy another one most likely, ill post pics of it fitted in the gun. like i said it is a work in progress, so it is incomplete, mainly just no finish and the stock needs another 5-6 hours of sanding, so that is my reason for it looking like poo.

I like that what caliber will the 788 conversion be?
Wow, just checked on price of 788 magazines - for an inexpensive rifle the magazines aren't cheap are they 8^O

it is chambered for 300 sav. the mags are 308 mags. i havent go to try to shove the tc icon mag in it, but it is single stack and much cheaper, surely one could make it work...
