im having trouble with case mouths getting banged up upon ejection
iv taken 2 coils off the ejector spring and it helped somewhat

Taking anymore off the spring may cause problems so you may have to live with it. 44-40 brass being thin anyway is part of the problem.

Try ejecting a case slowly to see where it is hitting the action. It may not be ejecting straight up like it should. Changing the extractor angle a little may help, just go SLOW.
