We got 4 3/4" rain last night. The storm wasn't too bad here, but got pretty rough in places. My son said water got up in his car in the parking lot in Amarillo. Saw some BIG hogs beside the road just south (1/2 mi.) of the house. We haven't had them this close before.

lolz not sure how much got drenched down there but we got alot to the north of ya too , it's one humid hot one out there today which of course will breed more storms ,worse i dont sleep thru thunderstorms anymore ( anyone who does in tornado alley is flirtin' with disaster this time of year ) i've found in the daytime when it pours is a great time to put on a pair of shorts and sweep the driveway (pours not piddles ) doesnt take much to help any debris out of there but with the high humidity i did have to break down and oil the molds out in the shop [sigh]

Some years ago was driving S of you I guess but N of Dallas, we saw 2 tornadoes near each other.
Little ways further the highway was closed, saw a semi almost submerged.
We took off E on a FM road, didn't see the pavement maybe 20 miles,
was like driving a boat, used the fencelines to navigate.
Must have been right under it, pouring, so much lightning I was wearing my sunglasses. Lightning helped me see down the road.
Wife closed her eyes. Guess I coulda slowed down some. Beats hot & dry.

We had an F5 tornado 15 years ago that passed West of Wheeler and wound up north of my house 10 miles. It was 1 1/4 mile wide and totally wiped away some houses, killed lots of cattle, and sucked grass out of the ground and pavement off the highways. Power poles that were 90' tall on a major line were pulled from the ground with the wire wrapped around many of them. No one was killed, but there were some amazing stories of narrow escapes. An ostrich farm was hit and lost many birds, I saw some walking around with no feathers and can attest that a naked ostrich is UGLY!

My neighbors behind me rain gauge had 5" (all it holds) in it. The water line on the underpasses on the interstate show 8 to 10' up on the side, glad I was asleep.

We have now had 5 days straight of rain. Temp is just belowing freezing and snow on the foothills. Frightened to let the dog at on the back lawn to have a 'leak' for fear she will disappear.

It has been pouring here all day. I've never seen anything like it. I hope it floods and rips the stream out of buck brush down below our place. Salmon used to spawn there I understand.

Fishing pole is ready!!
