Gents, I'm still learning the ins, and outs, of this site, so if this is posted in the wrong spot, please bear with me....

I am looking for fired 8x56R military brass. I'd bet there are a few brave souls out there, that are shooting the military stuff through their thumpers, and have no use for the empties...

Drop me a PM, with what you have.

Thanks!

You do understand that it is all Berdan primed?

You goign to convert them or reload the Berdan primers?

I had figuired out a way to do it with a press.
Have a die set made.

I have about 2000 Norma LR Berdans just dying for a home...
PITA, yes. However, 8x56R, and 303 Brit, are the only cartidges I load,
and I haven't seen Berdan-primed (with a standard-size LR primer) in
20 years.

Hence, the search for discarded, unloved, military 8x56R.

I believe you can reform 7.62x54R brass to 8x56 but with a short neck afterwards.

FWIW I saw some 8x56R being given away on another board very recently. The guy did'nt want to throw it out /scrap it and was offering it up...sorry I can't recall which board. May have been on Gunboards.com...Norma primers are great...they gave more accurate groups for me than the PMC Berdans that recently came in. I think I may have afew hundred still. Going to try them in my 6.5x55 or 7.5x55 loads to compare against the PMC...HTH...Tedly

Finding reloadable brass isn't the issue. Prvi brass is fairly common. I am looking for military 8x56r so that I can make use of my primer stock.

Polish and Albanian and some Russian surplus 7.62x54R are brass. I've got a bunch of all three in a box under my bench still primed and waiting to be loaded with cast boolits. I pull the powder and bullets from the surplus cases for use in other rifles and re-use the cases for plinking loads for the boys.

No help on your search, but I have done the berdan repriming of the few surplus 8x56r cases that I had. Worked fine with the 30 or so berdan cases that I had. I was using the PMC primers and decapped with the RCBS tool which works great when you nail the adjustment down just right. My berdan cases were good for only 4-5 reloads. Those little anvil pins get flattened out gradually until they quit working....

You might check out the www.ammobrasstrader.com forum.

Last time I checked 7.62 X 54R Russian base diameter was rather small for 8 X 56R. Not to my liking for full power loads.
