She's a beauty! Feed her a steady diet of lead and she'll stay with you for many years to come. :Fire:

It's a 20"...
Yep its diet will be all home brews from now on... I figure it'll start out on a ration of MM180FN's over a charge of AA#9 and see how she digests that un'...
Back when Dan was just startin' out he made me a beautiful brass mold with a 180PB n a 180GC in the same mold and my wife's Japchester92 loves em either flavor....
Ifin' this un likes em near as well I'll be a happy camper...

Cute little feller! I recently got a used long bbl M-94 in 347 that is a real joy to shoot. Am thinking about it with 180 gr. gas checks and heafty charges of 2400 for deer.

Those M92's are sweet, and the .357s just do a whole lot more than I would ever expect. I like them all, but the short rifles really stand out.

That looks good too. Is that finish a standard stainless? I don't know, it looks satin nickle or something...

It's a Nate Kiowa Jones (http://stevesgunz.com/) standard stainless Rossi with a Bead Blast finish.

I like how BB stainless looks like well worn "white" steel.

I've had one since 1973 and I carry it in the car every day for social engagments. Mine will put 3 shots under 2" every time at 100 long steps and has killed everything from feral cats to a 1200 lb bull. So the moral is buy a Rossi and shoot the bull?

Ahhhh, OK. The wood looks sharp too. Well, I already like Nate's work, and thanks to steveb's pictures, I was already looking at stainless for my next Rossi and this settles it That picture of yours looks sharp.

KCSO, Grins, sounds good to me..

I warned Steve/Nate that he would be running out of Bead Blast media after I posted pics of the gun... :D

Yep that BB stainless is a eye candy piece fer sure....
Got this one from the FFL dealer last night and it looks like it was very lightly used as it don't have a scratch er mark on it...:-D
They advertized it as having had an action job and it must have been werked on by a good man as it is as slick as grease...
The sights have been changed from the buckhorn and brass bead type too a flat square notched rear and a flat square post front...much easier for my ole eyes to line up....
Will get it out n run some ammo thru it real soon....:castmine:

I noticed that there is no barrel band. Is that typical of Octagons?

If you take another look, there is a band about 3 inches from the end. It's dovetailed into the bottom of the barrel and wraps around the magazine tube. Pretty slick setup

Old Ironsights

Right. I saw that. My point was that it IS dovetailed rather than a full barrel wrap like on my Rossi 92.

I was wondering if that's just how they do it on octagons.

(BTW, yours is also a Rossi?)

Old Ironsights:

Two things; first, for Winchesters at least, any lever action with the dovetailed magazine ring, round or octagon, was catalogued as a "Rifle", regardless of barrel length (a gunsmith friend had an original '73 RIFLE in his shop many years ago with an ORIGINAL 18" barrel!); and anything with the barrel / magazine band(s) was a "Carbine".

Second: if you ever take that rifle down, note that the "dovetail" is a ROTARY one; you rotate it 90* to remove it. DON'T try to drive it out to the side or you'll have a REAL mess to fix! Don't ask me how I know...
