How much black powder does the .45 Schofield hold?
Anyone load BP for it?

According to Cartidges of the World 28gr of FFF. It also shows 4.6 gr Bullseye with a 230gr bullet.

Docone31, I shot the 45 Schofield case for about 16 months in SASS in my 45 Colt revolvers. I used a 200 grn RNFP in front of 27 grns of Goex 2F and they worked great. You can put 28 grns of 2or 3F with the 2F requiring more compression for some stout loads.

Thanks to everyone.
You all answered my questions.
It looks like, now, I am going to convert my .44 Navy to Schofield.
I like cap and ball, but I always wanted one of the old timers. Not that the .44 Navy is an old timer, but I like that one better than the Colt Old Army one.
I just plain like my pistol.
Slow, but delicate and precise. Very little recoil. A real good shooter.

I played with the 45 S&W for a while and found that 27 or 28 grains of black under a 200 grain RNFP (six cavity Lee mold) was a good load for me. I never tried it with smokless...

If I am reading your post correctly, you getting a conversion cylinder for a 44 caliber 1851? Sounds good. Don't forget, we like pictures!!!!
