I took out my Model 29 and 686 today to do some more load testing and found some promising loads.

I've been casting the 44 with Lee 245 grain boolits. I have found that they work best in my gun sized to .433. Best group was with 4.4 grains of Unique.

The 686 had it's best group with an LBT 180 grain bullet and 3.8 grains of Solo 1000. Only two groups showed promise. In old testing the bullet would consistenly give 1 to 1 1/2 inch groups at 25 yards. Main thing I changed today was the lube I was using. Guess I'll go back to LBT Blue.

Nice shooting. Little curious, why the .44 Russian in the M29? It would have to be easier to get your hands on .44 Spl brass if you want to down load, wouldn't it?

I'm shooting ICORE and USPSA and the Russian rounds, being shorter are easier and faster to reload. Harder to make shoot well, .44 specials have definate tighter groups. But it's something to do.
