Since you're wanting to shoot a G/C design without the G/C you might consider a filler to protect the boolit base. I just happen to be testing wheat bran as a filler simply because I couldn't find any corn meal at the time. Initial tests are very promising indeed and so I'd like to persuade others to test it and see if they get good results too![smilie=1:

Another trick would be to dip the boolit G/C rebate into molten wax or waxy-lube to form a protective cup. I do this with j-words and it prevents copper fouling. Mainly, it coats the inside of the suppressor with corrosion protection!

I just fired my first ever lead rifle boolits, that exact same one, but gas checked, voer 16 grains of AA1680, and got some nice groups at 50 yards. haven't tried it at 100 yet, long range wasn't available. Never used Unique.
Good luck!

I wasn to run it under 1500 fps preferably 1050-1200 using unique in a subsonic load.

I have tried the gas check type boolit with 16.0 grains of 1680 with fair results. I have tried using this same load without the gas check with highly unsatisfactory results. Lately I have read that adding Grits half way up the neck with the same load changes it into a highly accurate load. My standard load is the same boolit with gas check and 17.5 grains of 1680. Great load! I shoot it through a CZ 527 but intend to try it through my SKB very soon. Neil

If Those speeds are what your looking for Use Bullseye ,W231,Red dot in the 4 -6 gr. range ,I havent tried Unique but 6 grs would be a start.

I have had good results with Trail Boss in extra-light loads in the 1000 fps range, no filler needed. A good starting load might be 6-7 grs for the Russian.

I've had good results with the Lyman 313445 95 grain SWC in front of 3.0 grains of Green Dot. I don't remember the chronograph results, but it was definately subsonic.

There are a couple popular Lyman bullets that do well in this and allot of other 30 cals if you are looking for a plinker. One is a pointed 113 gr and the other looks similar but has a slightly rounded nose and I believe is 130 gr if I remember right. The 311 359 and 311410

I would second the suggestion of Red Dot for subsonic. I just ran that load today (4gr. Red Dot) pushing a 173gr GC through a can---it was less noisy than my 10/22

I tried the boolit the Op talks about at 100 yards with 16gr of AA#1680 - 6 inch drop! With 18gr 1680 it was still a 3 inch dropfrom POA. No leading with wheel weight alloy, gonna start working up little by little try to get it to the POA the J-word bullets use. Good accurate boolit, I can say that!
