Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I came across some Berry plated .308 150 grain bullets, I picked them up at an auction real cheap, I know they are very soft under the platting, has any one ever tried to Hollow point them, and if so how did they work, I was thinking about useing them on wood chucks.

The plateing is only .003-.007 thick , so keep em on the low to moderate pressures.
My exp is with revolver bullets & I could beat up the plateing enuff to make em shed!!!
If ya press the load any I would check the bore after each shot especially if the groupimg starts south !!!

you'll know if you are peeling the plating youll see shred marks on the close targets.
i was able to push some hollow points into a couple of plated 44's with a swaging tool.
keep the plated to low end plain base cast velocities and you should be fine.
they should be like shooting a muzzle loader on those chucks
