I got a set of these for my Glock and they are more robust than the 9mm set I have. So far I am using 9mm brass and a 124gr Lee T/C 9mm for a core.

Here's a few pics of the bullets I have made thus far.

These dies are easy to use. I am using the 9mm core punch to recess the cores int he 9mm case to make them the way I want them.

+1 on the 9mm core punch. I've about settled on using 9mm brass shortened to .6" Still have some experimenting but looks more comparable in lenght to most other 40 cal projos.

Nice. If you want to make your bullets a little shorter though here's a little trick. After you've shaped your bullet in the swaging die, replace the swaging punch (flat) with the core seating punch (dish-shaped). Then, turn the bullet around so the nose is pointed down (into the dish of the punch). Run the bullet slightly up into the die again with just enough force to start folding over the jacket mouth. Don't push the bullet completely into the die or you will put an ogive on the base of the bullet.

You can then replace the swaging punch, turn the bullet back facing up and swage it to the final shape. The bullets in the center of this pic were done this way.

Can you use the core seat die?

I tried this over the weekend, just using BT's swage die. Turned the swaged part over, and hit it slightly, and it did, indeed, round the end of the nose brass over. Shortened the brass up. It may be the FIX I have been looking for with the length issue. Will just have to work out some adjustments, so that they all come out the same (run in batches, one batch per process/setting)

Thanks, kawalekm

Hmmm, sounds like I am going to need another Base punch, one that is dish shaped.
I really like the sound of this....especially for the 40, cuz 193 gr. is just a little heavy for my likeing.

PS. BT are you reading this ?

edited...another thought.
maybe a separate die that is dish shaped, this function could be done in a separate press,
then re-swaged.

If you used the core seating punch in the core seating die you wouldn't have to worry about putting an ogive on the base and you could make them all uniform.

That presumes that we have said Core Seating tools. I only have the standard issue BT swage kit.

Brian, what would it cost me to get a second Rockchucker "punch" to slip into the ram? I'd like to make the end of the ram concave, and get better at this process.

As has been discussed several times, I am on the path for shorter .40 S&W jacketed bullets.

I was thinking of shorter 9mm brass, do you trim with a Harbor Freight cutoff saw?
I think BT showed pics of his saw and jig.
However I really like the nose on Kawalekm's boolits, in the middle of the pic.
Has a finished look to it. Will probably try both ways.

Someone mentioned dishing the end of a 7/8-14 bolt to do the same kind of nose work, wonder how repeatable that is?
Seems like it was out in the open, not in a die, just a touch of pressure to start the nose folding in.

I thought of using a seating die with a round nose post...
Maybe a 44 Mag die.

Not sure the standard BT die set ram punch will push the bullet up that far to do it, but that sounds like the perfect solution if it works.

Heading down to the shop now for a try.
