I was playing with 3.5 to 4 gr of Unique and 215gr. 38 special load today for a Marlin 1894. The day was going so-so, not really having any good luck but not the worst way to spend a day. I was getting about 1 1/2 to 2" groups at 25 yards. It was heading toward dark and I was putting equipment away when I saw a box of 358087 hollowpoints setting on the bench and figured what the heck.

Well I'm here to tell ya 5.5gr of unique and that boolit make quite the hole at 25 yards. Most every hole was cutting another hole. I jumped up to 6gr and loaded a few to shoot tomorrow. The nicest part of the whole thing is that they feed smooth as glass. Not a hickup in the bunch. This should make a great woods walking load.

Will the Marlins stabilize a 215 gr boolit moving as slow as these were? I don't have a chrono, but I'm guessing they were going around 800-900fps?

Glenn Fryxell has an article on 358627, entitled a bullet for all seasons, over at lasc.us in the articles section. I've got the mould, but never did much with the boolit...too many things going on.

I've printed out the article and put it in the book in the reloading shop, that's how this whole thing started. I just found a 220gr 38 special pretty interesting for some reason.
