HI,
I am glad I bought 20 lbs. of this before the last election.
It has turned out to work fine in both my 357 & 44.
A bonus is unlike Unique & other fast powers I have loaded a double charge of R. Unique would be hard to do.
R. Unique is bulky. Basically a full charge comes up to the base of the bullet.:bigsmyl2:

Heresay says the Russian equivalent works well. That is what a fellow at the range said, as well as other posters.

Alliant or Hercules Unique, I have half a can left, Is bulky. A double charge would be obvious in the case.

So where are you finding this stuff? I've not seen it anywhere.

Is that the one they call SALUTE? How would you find loading inf. on it?

That would be SALUT. I'm using 6.7gr of SALUT with a 200gr RNSP in a Sig220 (.45ACP) Nice and accurate, meters well and burns cleaner.

Alliant's Unique is available for $98/8lbs. seem to be a better buy.

Last time I bought surplus powder from Pat's, loading info was on the lable and a note included with data. Not load specific, just equivilant charges, ie. WC820 is loaded 10% lower than H110. Easy to use, just drop H110 loads 10% and yer good to go.

How do you figure that. Not counting HAZMAT, the above Unique is $12.25/lb. whereas SALUT is $11.89/lb.

I have almost finished my first jug of the stuff and I am quite impressed. Shoots cleaner, meters accurately and velocities are only slightly slower than Alliant Unique. Works quite well in 7.5 Swiss, 7.62 Russian and 30-06.

That's not really what I consider "reloading data". More of a rough idea of where to begin experimentation.

Some reloaders are experienced enough to do well with that kind of guidance. Others not so much.

biggest problem i have with the surplus is once you get a load worked up for a few guns they run out of it and your out of luck. Its happened to me with a couple surplus powders allready. Sure isnt worth 35 cents a lb to have that happen. Surplus is going to have to get alot cheaper before i start buying it again.

If a person can't drop a load by 10% (a really easy percentage!) perhaps they should not be reloading surplus powders. Reducing a load by a given percentage, as instructed by the vendor, is not experimenting, but some people do need set peramiters; ie, "loads for 240 gr. SWC shall not go below XX gr of 2400 nor shall exceede XX gr." That's great. I'm not trying anything dangerous by following the directions for surplus powders, just enjoying the availability of "different" powders.

HI,
Well I bought 20 lbs. & it was alot cheaper than it is now , even with the hazmat.
I saw the demos. coming. acually was afraid of Hillery winning. Some here would acuse me of hording I know. But this would last me 4-5yrs. I figured. But now because of expenses rizing it may have to last longer. and it is not hording if you know you are going to shoot it all up.
THIS IS JUST A CASE OF PLANNING AHEAD.

I bought 20# when GWB was president before anyone ever heard of BO for less than $150 with shipping and Hazmat. I love the stuff loaded it in everything from 380 to 45/70 and 41 Swiss nothing but good results, Although at today's prices I would buy regular unique.
