I have just purchased a new marlin 1894cl. I have rcbs dies and found a few rounds of brass. I've bought some meister cast bullets ( 85 grain) and was wondering if any of you guys/gals had a good , accurate cast bullet load?

I don't have a new Marlin 1894 in .25/20, mine is from about 1920.

Try 5.0 grains of Unique behind your 85 gr cast boolit for about 1480 fps.

Or 7.4 grains of 2400 with the 85 grain boolit for about 1420 fps.

My good accurate load uses a Speer 75 gr flat point J-word with 7.4 grains of 2400 for about 1300 fps.

These are loads that i have chronographed in my rifle, your mileage and accuracy may vary.

Head over to the Marlin owners forum and go to the reloading section and check out the 25-20 post, many pages of good information.

Try the 85 grainers and see but you may have to go to a shorter bullet such as the Lyman 257420 as most of those were made with a 1-14 twist and the longer bullet tends to be unstable. Mine was at 100 yards until I rebarreled with a 1-12 twist and now it handles them fine.

You may not have this problem but I did so look at your targets for elongated holes./beagle
