http://www.brp.castpics.net/ bruce makes a 260 lfn plain base that ive been shooting in 3 45 colts lately. Its proving to be one of the most accurate 45 bullets ive used. Mine is a 4 cavity with one cavity a hollow point but he will make them in other configurations.

GC selection in this bore diameter is fairly non existant because of the bullet length to diameter ratio is not sufficient to achieve a proper bullet design balance and thus stabilize without exceeding velocity levels common to most popular calibers in this bore diameter.

The cartridge shown is the 45Auto Rim used in several 625 S&Ws and one 25. With multiple guns and dimensions, the GC allows for freedom to shoot a single bullet and a single size / load across the entire revolver line.

Remarkably easy and flexible (any powder) to stabilize and it performs nicely out to 100 yards if you can achieve launch velocity of at least 900 fps. 800 fps is only stable to about 75 yards with my best efforts so far. Here, 7.5 grains of Unique is 19k and 900 from a 4". Bullet is 258 grains dressed and ready to go.

Skimmer,
Take a peek at the LEE 452-255-RF mold. Usually drops about 260ish with my alloy. Shoots well for me in a number of guns, and I load it a lot for 45Colt Ruger-level loads. You can buy it in 2 or 6 cav. No gc on that design, but maybe worth a look anyway for the application you're considering. Good luck.

thanks sagacious i think i have that mold comeing this week. i guess i could put a gas check on it useing an rcbs bullet, puller i've put some on alee 240gr 2r plane base but its labor intenscive with the plane base, i bevel base just a little with a sharp knife and checks seat and crimp nicely with lee sizer die. im presently trying to make a workable base beveler simaler to a chamfer tool like lee to save a lot of work and time. i have a lot of hornady xtp's in 240-i think 250 and 300gr. but i want to shoot the lesser gr with 2400 alliant at bout 1500fps its a good rr load with fmj's in my 460xvr s/w. will get it figured, after all the journey should be just as much fun as the destination. i'm hoping to put me a manual lathe or a cnc in the next month or two am looking into both but can't make up mind, but am leaning towards cnc. thanks

+1 for the 454-255RF . I've shot it in a 1917 acp and my Ruger in Colts. Mine is a 2 holer and drops at 454/260 I've shot them to 1100 fps in the Ruger.
