Does anyone have any insight and opinion why one would be better than the other? The price difference is about $80.00.

Hmm. I am NOT any kind of an expert, but I thought that they were exactly the same
guns. Maybe the marking is rarer for some reason and more desirable to folks that have
used the Beretta in the military.

From what I understand the 92FS is the M9. But Beretta has released the model 92A1. I'm just looking for an opinion on the differences. I don't know if they are worthwhile or just snake oil over complicating a proven design.

I'm looking for opinions on the differences between the M9A1 and the 92A1. They are two different models with different features.

the m9a1 has more agrea checkered front and backstrap, beveled mag well, sand resistant mags, and some antifriction pvd coating. (according to their site)

the 92a1 is just like the 92fs, except for the accessory rail and rounded trigger guard.

i can't be sure, but if the m9a1 is to be issued to us troops, then it will have to be made in the usa, like the m9

92fs are made it italy...i assume the 92a1 would also be made there.

Okay, if anyone needs a bevelled mag well for a double stacked, single feed magazine; suchas the Beretta Model 92 series, there is something very wrong.

In my opinion, it is an advertising gimmick.

Actually, they are the same pistol with very slight differences, most of which you'll never notice. The one you will notice is that the 92A1 comes with three 17 round mags. While the M9A1 comes with 15 round mags, and while it doesn't say specifically, probably only two of them.

Otherwise they have the same rail, function the same, shoot the same, have the same decocker, etc.

Unless Beretta has changed something, they're all made here. I have an old Italian M92F, but all the others have said "Maryland".
