I got a new-to-me SBH 44mag. with 10.5" Bbl . Shooting the LEE 310gr slug over 18gr IMR 4227 for 1050fps. Rear sight is cranked all the way down and I'm printing 18" HIGH @ 50yrds????
That's like a 250yrd zero!!!!!!

Yep
Been there , had about the same problem
As you know a heavy slow boolit allows the gun to recoil more before the boolit leaves the barrel
So the gun shoots higher than you would expect
Contact Ruger and ask if they can provide you with a taller front sight
I had the same problem with my 45/70 Contender barrel , 11 gr of Unique and a 350 gr boolit shot way high
So TC supplyed me with a number of different front sight inserts

Yes, Ruger makes sights in many sizes and they are dirt cheap.
