I am going to order some 820 from Hi Tech and was going to round the order out with one of these two. Looking at the post here and the data on Castpics both are being used in the cases I am interested in using them in. 7X57, 8X57, 30-40 Krag and maybe 348 Win. are the ones I need some practice loads for. I am trying to keep my powder list to as few as possible so only want to purchase one of them if both are about the same in the cases I mentioned. I just never seem to have the time to try every powder. If I need both for best sucess in let me know what your experience has been with them.

I never used 872 but have awesome luck with the 860 in my 308. Full Case, Heavy boolit (190 or up). It does leave unburned powder. Honest 1" groups. AV 1875. This is the only thing I use it for. I tried a casefull in my '06. too much. 2200 fps for a 150 grain 311466.

860 works for me in 45-70 for black powder velocity duplication loads. Just load for slight compression with a wad, then crimp and shoot. Some unburned powder but not much. Great accuracy.

Get both because of the same application they are good for, and you will have some intentional variance for fun and games. ... felix
