Has anyone done this with the Mosin????

Also how will the 314299 work as a heavy for `06 if I size& lube at 314 first then take it to 310 .

Nuttin too fat , but it does come out the mold at 314 & round , probably alittle fatter with WW.
Got 3 with Gas Checks & 3 with out. We`ll see what happens !

The nose of that 314299 may be a little big for the 06 bore dia. you may have to deep seat because of it. Try one in the muzzel to see.
Deep seated boolits shoot just fine, I do it in the K31 al the time.
Size to .310 the first time no need to size twice, if your using LLA then you may want to lube twice, before and after sizing.

I hadn't though of the large nose being an issue as Calamity Jake points out so that is something to check for sure for use in .30-06 and maybe even the Mosin. However, I have shot 314299's without gas check in my .303 British. I have also just reamed the gas check shank out of my old Lyman mould since I now have the NOE 316299.

So far with limited shooting of gas check shank without gas check, I have not had good results using the 314299 unless I use COW filler under it. Then accuracy seems about the same as with gas check.

I have been shooting the loads with COW filler regularly with good results and no problems. I have not pushed pressure limits though as I am trying to get accuracy sorted out.

If you decide to try filler, don't just pour filler into a case with any old load in it. You have to start with a known low pressure load then work up in powder charge with the filler.

Also, the first outing with the PB 314299 was a week ago. It seemed to shoot reasonably well over 19 grs. of IMR4227. I recovered a few boolits from the 100 yard berm and the bases of what was left did not show any gas cutting. I have some more sized and lubed so have to try them out again.

Maybe not a lot of help because I don't have lots of results to share yet but we are thinking along the same lines.

the 819 will shoot GCed boolits very well & the bare ones it don`t

The target here was 8gr. of reddot, the top bare & the bottom checked 3 shots each

The bare went 1260 & the checked went 1210 fps

Think I`ll check some more & go to 9grs.
