This was the first attempt at a long eye relief scope mount for the Gewehr 1898 German infantry rifle. It was very strong and rigid but I wasn't happy with the height. To be really viable a LER scope needs to be low as you can get it. This old rifle shot so good with this first attempt I was determined to make a mount that did justice to the rifle.

I hope to get to the range tomorrow to test out a bunch of j- and cast loads in several rifles, this one included.
Gotta go -- pot roast awaits!!
