I couldn't beleive the balistics/velocity of that round. I think it is a 24 cal bullet in a necked down 308 full of powder. From what i understand it can reach 4200/ft/sec.
I stopped and chatted with a friend that holding the gun for a friend and he showed me the gun and the bullet, very coool.
Anybody shoot this round? Know anything about this round?

My God, that matches the famed velocity of the 204 but with a heavier bullet, i think a 50 grain bullet. I also like the idea of using common 308 necked down brass, which can be found anywhere.

Someone on the forum had that round or a very similar round and I believe he got rid of the rifle. I want to say Sundog.

That's not a 24 caliber.

There have been several versions of a .22 caliber on either the .308 or the .243 Winchester case. The 243 would be easier to neck down.

My question is, unless you are trying to shoot coyotes at absurd ranges; what will they do that a .22-250 won't?

And yes I have been down the hot loaded wildcat road before. The only one I still have around is a 6.5-06.

It would be useful to me if the twist was correct to stabalize an 80gr A-max or a 90gr Berger. Other than that I have speed with my 204 and I have wildcats equal to or greater than its capablities. Could be fun though......if someone else was buying my barrels :)

it is a 22 caliber. a 308 necked to 243, is a 243. I have a cheetah and a middlestead. the cheetah sharpens the shoulder by setting the neck back and you have thick necks unless you ream them. the middlestead, is just a 243 necked down to a 22. you need a 1 in 9 twist or faster so you can shoot heavy bullets. you can get 3600 from a 69 grain with no strain at all, with wc 852 and that probably isn't the ideal powder. you need to watch the neck thickness on the necked down 243s. the jatbird is one of the oldest 22-243 wildcats.

My gunsmith neighbor, Mike Bryant, built a 22-243 for a local guy. A real screamer and lot's of boasting about velocities, but I'll bet the barrel life is very short. I consider a 220 Swift as overbore. In my opinion a 22-250 is about max for a 22 bore. But the wildcats are fun to explore, so to each his own.

I have a friend that has two of these used for very long range prairie dog hunting. Both are set up as heavy barrel target jobs. He says that 200 cases for each rifle will wear out when the barrel does. He alluded that 10 to 12 firings per case would do that.
