OK here is the deal.
45 years ago (during my misspent youth) I formed a lot of 7x57 cases from military brass and loaded them with a Lee loader since I didn't have any dies at that time.
Press forward to the present, I have found and shot several boxes of said bullets just to clear the brass and have some fun burning ammo A number of the cases have split at the neck and 3 completely down the shoulder of the case to about 1/2 the case legnth.
All the rest are fine and I have inspected them as I cleaned them.
Any ideas?
old age maybe?
I have several hundred rounds in various calibers I loaded back then, shoot them , pull them down?

Sorry no pictures as the camera I have will not get that small and still give a clear pic!
An inquireing mind wants to know!!

I would suggest annealing and load to shoot.

That's my "guess" too.

I reform 7.65 X 53 Arg., 8 X 57 & 7 X 57 from 30-06 and I anneal the neck and shoulder right after forming. That cured my split necks. It was the Russians that inovated the final anneal on their military ammo sometime in the early last century that prevented "seasoning" splits.
