Hi all, anyone know if you can get .410 shotgun 7/8" thread dies for your typical "O" frame press (rockchucker). I have been told RCBS made some (1-1/4") for 12g shotguns, but you had to remove the thread reducing collar in the top of the rockchucker. I have got a .410 which i want to try some slug reloading for. A friend of mine has had reasonable accuracy success in his .410 with .38 cal wadcutters which he loads in his target revolver! INTERESTING!!!
Thanks in advance!!!!:?:?:?

Before RCBS, Lachmiller made shotgun dies for the 1-1/4" threads that fit in the Rockchucker. I have three with one of them being a 410 sizing/depriming die. A 7.62x54R shellholder works for the shellholder. The RCBS dies can be modified fairly easily for the other gauges I believe.

Hello, for the 410 you might wish to try 444 Marlin dies, quite close, Mike

I recall hearing about something like this long ago (.410 die set for metallic presses).

But what about a crimp die?

Hello,

For plastic cases, give it a try, the bullet seater should set the crimp, you will just need to work up a crimp starter. You may have to make up a solid bullet seat stem.

For metal cases, best is an over shot wad and elmer's glue.

With the plastic cases a roll crimp is jus the thing. I've a 45/410 I size my brass cases in my colt die then use my 44 mag roll crimp for the over shot card works great with plastic wads can be a little hit and miss with fiber wadding though.

You can use a .45 acp die with the plug removed for sizing.

Thanks again guys, anyone have any other suggestions besides .444 marlin and .45acp??? I will only be using plastic cases, so the .45ACP dies may be the go.

Sounds interesting for the plastic shells I have a Saiga 410ga shotgun and though I make allbrass for my singleshots from 303 British brass aneal and fireform I dont shoot them in the Saiga it like all AK type weapons throws the empties where they are hard to find so I use plastic 3" Magnum and find about 1/3 of the empties that I shoot.I also would like to see the process of loading with a 45acp die and a cartridge press and it would not have to load fast I am disabled and love to stay bussy with my hands makeing shotshells instead of buying them by the box they for their size verry expensive. I like a multi-ball load useing a brass mould that they drop out at .395 and 6 at a time.
