I pulled a barrel and would like to know maker. It is stamped 22-250 (that I get) and has two star"s stamped also, not XX but star's. All marking"s are on the chamber end, nothing on the side. Thanks Aaron

sounds like one of the "gunshop special barrels" sold to smiths from excess inventory, my first .280 rem barrel had two asterisks ** right up near the chamber. My old smith told me it was either from hart, or douglas, as he had got them like that from one or the other, he couldn't remember ,but he was famous for his CRS in his later years. My barrel shot like a damn, but I caught a case of the stupids one day, and traded the gun.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll put it on a k-kale and see if it shoots.

There was a company called Federal Firearms south of Pittsburgh that made their own barrels. Their brand name was "star barrels"and they were pretty popular around here in the 60's. They sold blanks and also would barrel actions. Can't remember if they stamped their blanks with stars or not, but it wouldn't suprise me if your barrel was one of theirs. If I remember, their barrels gave decent accuracy.

Hey PatMarlin ol' pal....
Isn't that the way your .358 barrel is marked?
