They had a huge ingot of alloy marked "Field bar #<random numbers> Ludrow teletype linecasting (I think, this is from memory), <some city's name> 85/8/3/2/2, patent # <random numbers>". Had to be 80 pounds, shaped like a 24" hotdog cut in two length wise, looked like aluminum but heavy as linotype.

Tried to talk them down but couldn't get any deals. Just didn’t have the cash on me to get it but might be a good find but that mix ratio sounds weird.

Any ideas what the mix might be?

Yeah I know its linotype ballpark but not sure exactly what it is. Chances are its probably worth the $1.25/pound they want for it.
