Confession:
I could not stand my Mosins unshot either ......... but I was WEAK!
I sinned and shot J-words .............
My boolit action thus far has been in the handgun world, save for my Marlin .357 ......
....... I am going to rectify that soon ........ I am ....... I really am ...... I promise!!!

Nothing wrong with the jacketed. My sporterized 44 can hit a ping pong ball at 100 yards with the Hornaday .312 150 grain sp and a good dose of IMR 4064.

............I'd suggest you buy the larger Lyman 314299. It's easier to size down if you need to :-) However I seriously doubt you will.

Depends a lot on your barrel. One of mine swallows a .316299 and is still not happy. I use the fired case method to start with. Fire a round, even surplus ammo should work, then measure the ID of the neck. Use a boolit .001" under that, should get you in the ballpark. Fitting the throat of these beasts is the trick, in my experience. I think some of them can use a .318!I've heard it said here, "Use the fattest boolit that you can chamber safely".

I used the 175g .323 LEE mould sized down to .318 in one of mine and it shot great, wish I hadn't traded it.
