I'm shooting T/C Hawken rifles. I have always shot Pyrodex powder. Is there any reason to try Goex?

No, I've tried them all Triple 7, pyrodex, Goex. The only propellant that doesn't leave a crud ring in my CVA inline is Blackhorn 209.

Real black powder lights a bit easier in my experience, if you are having ignition problems you may have better luck with it.

I've been shooting and building muzzleloaders for over 30 years. I prefer 3f Goex but Pyrodex is cheaper when they close it out at the end of the season at Walmart. Goex is much easier to light and if you belong to a club you can sometimes get it cheap. I wouldn't use 2f unless it's all you can find.

Swampman, I sent you a PM.

I was talking about Goex Black Powder. I only use 3f (no matter the caliber) because it's much cleaner burning and you get the same velocity with less powder.

Ive been using Goex black for decades, I bought a can on Pryodex GS, and shot 5 times.

I gave the can away, and went back to holy black.

I even tried it in my 45-70, it took more by volume, and I could not get the FPS beyond 1150.
