A 7.5" Redhawk would be good for the Ray Gun 25 yard division and the 50 Yard iron sight He-man division.

Well then it's good we're holding this match; you may have gone years before correcting this gaping hole in your armory.

Allright. No mention of targets? Do we all go to http://www.gamecalls.net/free_stuff/52_free_targets.html

or

http://www.mytargets.com/ and use like targets or does it matter? I've never participated in one of your postal matches so don't really know how it's ran.

Any aiming point, pick the one that works best with your eyes and sights, shooting is for group size. (blank paper is fine, aiming point optional)

Even the Bullshop paper plate is accepted!

If Mosin Nagants are DA, there will be a "special recognition" category for anyone that submits a target from one.

Mosin Nagants are bolt action rifles. There is a Nagant M1895 pistol (the one where the cylinder moves up to close the barrel gap). It was made in both single action and double action versions. The source I looked up claims the double action pull is a moderate 20 pounds with a hair trigger single action pull of only 13 pounds.

15 yard shot.

S&W Model 25-7 5" 45 colt. I shot it at 50 feet. Nice group, lets see who can beat it.

For the 50 Yard He-Man iron sight match I think I'm going to need some bigger paper. :Fire:

I'm shooting my 5" S&W 627, load is a Lee 356-125 2R at 130gr, sized .358 with hard blue stuff and propelled with 4.5gr of AmSel, approx 900fps. Perhaps the light load is magnifying my errors?

I stopped into a gun show on Saturday and they had a big old case full of the Nagant revolvers. I asked if I could try the trigger on one... I believe the estimates from that web site are light! You need two men and a boy to roll those things over.

What range do you want the Nagant revolvers shot at?

I have one it shoots well.

A Nagant M-1895 fired double action needs a target distance in feet--not yards. Single action, I can hit 6" plates at 35 yards pretty consistently.

David R

25 yards was pretty easy, but 50 with irons was a little tough. I shot 44 mag, 45 LC and 38. The only target with 12 holes in it was from the 45 colt.

All I have left are 25 and 50 yards with a scope. This will be with my 44 SRH.

Shoot one of the main matches from the first post. Probably the 15 yard normal gun match and the 50 yard He-Man Iron sight match.

Sounds great David R. I have a range session scheduled for tomorrow. I planned the match to end when my kids started up school again, that way I'll have time to score the targets. Now tomorrow is time to shoot some!

I shot enough of the 50 yard iron sight match to make my hand hurt. Seemed I always flubbed a shot somewhere in the string and I had to try and do better. The one in the picture is 11 3/16".

After beating my self up, I borrowed a rifle and shot your 50 yard match to unwind.

I did get a decent 50 yard rifle target to send in though.

Geez Slug, you beat me by 7/16" SEE they are close. Should I shoot another one? I too had ONE shot way off in the blue yander that killed my group.

He Man with scope could be good for me. My SRH has had a scope on since it was new a bunch of years ago. I took it off this year to shoot silly wet Iron sight. Now it can go back on.

Absolutely, shoot as many as you want. It's all about getting out and shooting. I ain't done yet, I hope to get my act together and get my shots together. To say that I am thoroughly challenged by the double action 50 yard shooting is an understatement.

I hope nobody thinks they have to declare a target in advance. C'mon guys take a bucket of ammo to the range and get some shooting done. (see post #1 for the details).

Buckshot and I gave the 15 yard normal gun venue a try yesterday, and he has a right nice target to send along, courtesy of his K-38. I'm going to try another gun or ammunition type, my Model 16-4 x 6" showed a definite dislike for the Lyman #313631's yesterday.

Curmudgeon, just use the white side of some gift wrap. I got one target submitted for a little over 30"; just beat that.

Kenjuudo sent in a couple targets for the 15 yard match. (along with a bribe that was gladly accepted.)

I have all but the 25 and 50 yard scoped HE MAN match. I have some nice groups. The S&W 45 colt just seems to shine in this match. It has beat my K38 and Ruger SRH every time. Yesterday I put the scope back on the SRH and shot one group at 50. 3 hits on the paper. I shook the gun and the scope was rattling. I tightened it up with a quarter and resighted it. Ran out of boolits. You can bet I will enter every match. Wait till you see my regular gun group. ONE Long hole group with the S&W.

This is a BLAST!

Where do I send them to?

I took the super Red Hawk to the range with scope installed TIGHT. I shot some nice groups with fliers as usual. 25 yards, DA mode 10 shots in Just under 2.3". The other two opened it up to Just under 5". That is about the best I can do.

I shot all matches. I have a target I shot at 50 yards with iron sights, but for the life of me I can only count 11 holes. :( . I guess I will have to send the 11 5/8 inch group. No time tomorrow to try again.

All in all I must have shot over 300 rounds for this match. I love it!

David, check post number 1, for this match the postmark date is Sept 05, the day after labor day. (Plus or minus a little too, I'm a bit more lax than those April 15th fellows.)

:) forgot the paper plate, but I did shoot those on my lunch. :)

They take up about 3/4 of a 50 yard timed fire repair center.

OK,12 shots in 8 and 1/2" out of a lot of tries. Should just fit on a 9" paper plate.

No, it took me 48 rounds to complete the stage! 4 targets/trys. I didn't shoot until I got 12 hits, I shot until I got 12 hits in a row on the same plate. Sheer luck really. I was averaging 8-9 hits per 12 and was suprised that I was able to get a qualifying plate at all at that point.

Nothing wrong with luck Double Action at 50 yards for sure. Take a look at post #27 in this thread, thats my target. I shot at 50 long enough to loose track of the round count.
