I did a search on "carnauba wax price" and came up with different kinds from solids to flakes. Since I really don't know the best way to get it for use I am posting this question to the forum.

What is the best way/form and and what is a decent price?

Changeling;
Here is a firm I have done business with over the years (great place to buy Anhydrous Lanolin, for example). Scroll down to "Carnauba Wax":

I bought solid carnauba the first time and had a hard time dealing with it. Carnauba is wicked hard, it was a lot of work to grate it. I bought flakes the next time.

I got mine off of EBay. Seems to go for twenty something bucks a pound.

I recently found this place, best most complete lube ingredients place I've found so far.

I get mine where Dale53 gets his. It's $7.15 a pound, cheaper in larger quantities and comes in easy to measure flakes.

I've read that the wax on Maker's Mark and the red wax on cheese rinds are both high in Carnuba wax. Does anyone know if that is true and if so,how much carnuba in a bottle of Maker's Mark. It may be worth buying after all.

LOL! With maybe a half an ounce of wax on a bottle, Makers Mark will be the most expensive wax you'll ever buy by the pound.

Of course you just may not care...

It can be had down to $6.80 a lbs if you buy in 50+ lbs lots :)

The Red Rind cheese I buy has paraffin instead of carnuba.

Carnauba Wax

Recipes
MSDS
INCI = Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax

Saponification Value: 80 mg KOH / g of Fat

Not for your car anymore! Carnauba has long been used in lipsticks, salves, creams and ointments. It is even used in candles as a hardener. What fun!

This vegetable wax is from the Carnauba palm that grows in northern Brazil. This tree is often referred to as "The tree of life".

When substituting Carnauba Wax for Beeswax in an existing recipe reduce the amount of wax by half since since Carnauba Wax has twice the stiffening power of Beeswax.

http://www.thesage.com/catalog/FixedOil.html#CarnaubaWax

If you need help to thicken a sugar scrub please do this: to 1 pound (450 grams) of your oil mixture add 1 to 2 grams of Carnauba Wax. Melt the wax into the oils and then allow to cool. Use this premixed oil mixture as your formula requires. Also see Beeswax or Candelilla Wax other options.

301-1133 8 oz Carnauba Wax $4.45
301-1134 16 oz Carnauba Wax $7.15
301-1135 5 lbs Carnauba Wax $30.50
301-1136 10 lbs Carnauba Wax $58.00
301-1137 25 lbs Carnauba Wax $130.00

google "ChemSavers" or some such. They might have what you want when nobody else does. They might also have other chemicals you want. I've dealt with them, at the time they were not unreasonable...Lee

Majestic Mountain Sage has it reasonable and fast.

I used MSDS to look up JPW ingrediants. It is equal parts of carnuba & petrolium wax, from 5 to 15%. This disolved in Stoddard solvent.

What luck! I bet you save all the tin wrappers from wine and liquor bottles, too.
