I have both a post 64 Winchester 94 and a Marlin 336 in 30-30
that I was thinking of re-barreling to .32WS. Which gun would be easier to convert?, I have headspace guages, what other tools would I need?
Am I biting off more than I can chew[smilie=1:

Either rifle will work just fine. The Marlin is an overall simpler design with fewer parts and therefore easier to work with/on.

Are you bitting off more than you can chew? If you have to ask that question and which tools to use, you probably are.

I am not trying to be snotty, but changing a barrel can run into allot more than just screwing one out, another in and checking the headspace. If you don't know what such a change entails, you probably should have it done or get up to speed on what is needed. Frequently such a change will require some lathe and chamber work.

Most gunsmiths charge $150 to install a barrel. That accounts for about 5 to 7 hours of shop time and they know what they are doing and have all the equipment and tools. Sometimes it is easy, some times it is not.
