I hope this isn't a dumb question:oops: but I'm still new to reloading an really don't want to make any bomb's for my RSBH. I have been loading 23.5 grains of 2400 under a 180gr Hornady XTP ( I got 1000 free when I bought my press ) I'm running low on 2400 & have 4lbs of Universal so I looked up the load using that, an its 11.3 gr max.
My question is given the extra space in the case do I have to use a filler? I have read that you guys use a filler to bring the powder up to the boolit, is this only in rifle loads? Or only when using a slow powder? Thanks in advance I know someone will set me on the right path.

no don't use a filler in the 44mag

You don't need it.

I think it's only a "rifle" problem, needing filler.

No sir. You do not use fillers on any smokeless handgun cartridges.
Some folks use them on light rifle loads with cast bullets. I have done this as well when I loaded the same in rifle loads. This only to keep the powder charge back against the primer, to get consistant powder burn.
