Here in the SE section of Ga., and the swamps of the coastal plains near Savannah, the heat index has been 120 for much of the day for quite a few days now. The back section of the shop, a steel bldg., is where we keep the bluing tanks. A couple of days ago, I went back to light them up, and that section doesn't have a double ceiling, and the tanks's thermometer read 125 degrees! I'm too dang old for this! C'mon, autumn!!!

I got up to go to work in the Low Country today and it was 80 deg and 90% humidity at 6:30 AM. Lately by 7:30 my underwear is soaked through and then the sun comes up. I'm missing Maine these days for sure.

It has been 100+ every day for the past couple weeks, I think. I was just out tooling around a few minutes back, and the time/temp signs in town were showing 95-97 degrees at 8:45 P.M. Add in the humidity from the thunderheads and monsoon-like cloud build-ups over the mountains, it is MISERABLE.

Where did November go?

Just think about all those folks in queens county new york that do not have any electricity for the past 5 days or so. Glad I retired from con ed ten years ago. Its been hot here in loosiana these past few weeks. Usually get some rain in the afternoons but lately not much to speak of. Only had about enough rain to wet the driveway and that was it. Frank

It was 113 on the patio in the shade this aftrn. Tomorrow is supposed to be hotter yet. Rh has been 80% or greater. This moisture is just another type of invasion from south of the border. :(

My electric bill came today, it was $342. last year it was only $170 for the same period.

75 F at 0800 and about 80% humid. At 1800 96-100 F and about 30 % humid. Cloud cover left. I can live with these readings as it's going to cool back down into the 80's in the next few days. Mark

Well, it's 1921 hrs now and the temp just dropped down to 100. We've got good cloud cover and 10-15 mph wnds. Unfortunately, those winds are coming in of the Mojave and are hot and wet with the circulation coming up out of the Gulf of California. This is better than earlier but man-o-man, you can feel the heat on your face when this stuff smacks you.

Hot? Ha! It hit 118* today in the shade on our back porch; pretty good for the Northern California Coast, a few miles inland. Yesterday with it 113* our daughter drove us the 16 miles to the Coast, in her Chrysler Sebring convertible (top down), and it dropped 3* per mile through the redwoods to 70* as we came to the ocean. Thermal shock, anyone?
