Happened into a good deal on some Scot powder: A batch of Royal and 1250 in unopened containers.

Wondering if any of you have experience using Royal (not the "D" version, but the original version) in handgun loads? Thinking of using it in 38 special and 45acp under cast boolits. I have load data, but still interested in general comments about the powder.

I used alot of Royal and the D version years ago. Always liked em both in their intended roles.

Appreciate the input. Gonna whip up a batch of 38 and 45, and take 'em to the range for a test.

Had a chance to shoot some 38 special wadcutters using Scot Royal. The load I used worked exactly to Scot's load guide. Got good accuracy and consistency across the chrono. The powder was every bit as clean as I am used to with Clays. I'm impressed. Looks like I'll be shooting a lot of this in 38 special.
