I have attached a couple of photos and I would apprecaite suggestions for a fix. The bullet that hangs up on the barrel is the Lyman 311041, the spitzers shown in the photo work fine.

Can I polish the surfaces where the bullet enters the chamber without creating safety issues? I mean just a slight rounding of barrel face where there is sharp edge now. If there are 1 or 2 rounds in the magazine they chamber 98% reliably, more than 1 or 2, 100% malfunction. Magazine spring? Follwer? I am stumped!!!!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Malcolm

I am adding another photo. I have marked the areas in the magazine area that are kicking the cartridges to a steeper angle when entering the chamber. Can I remove metal from these areas, a little at a time to reduce that angle. This area of the action does not hold the cartridges in the mag, it just kinds "steers" them in. I do not want todo anything that will ruin this action.

You are ok rounding it down, just don't get beyond any of the web area of the cartridge.

In that last picture I see two very narrow lines on the feed ramp. If that is what you are talking about, yes you can round that down some and polish it. I would stay away from the breech opening of the barrel only to take the sharp edge off, which yours doesn't appear to have. That feed ramp is the reinforcement for the bottom bolt lug, that's why their is caution not to take excessive material away from it, which just contouring rounding won't it you just touch it up some.
