Anybody have any experience with one of these? I bought one this weekend, probably paid too much, but in a few years it will seem cheap.

Single shot bolt action, that sort of resembles a Mauser 71. 25 1/2" octagon barrel, two leaf rear sight supposedly for 60 and 120 meters. The long range leaf is currently soldered in the up position, I am going to shoot it before I unsolder it. I need to make an extractor for it, like most of these I have read about it is missing.

This looks like a well made little rifle, it holds very steady in the offhand position. Any idaes about the strength of the action? I don't want to over stress it.

I read 35 Remingtons thread on another forum, Marlinowners.com, IIRC.

I am thinking of getting Lyman dies since they come with an M die for neck expansion.

Thanks in advance,

Robert

Bret,

I'll see if I can get the digital camera away from the daughter. I'll probably need her help to post pictures anyway.

A Husky........... Simpson's Limited in Galesburg, IL. had these when I was last in.....in several calibers. They have a website with pictures and descriptions............pricey little boogers!

Bottom of page, the Model 25, mostly 32-20s right now.

Yes I do, I have a 22 and am working on a 30-30 and have the factory catalog from 1910 or so. These were made from 22 short to 45-70 in different model numbers. They were advertised in the 1911 Aplha catalog as Mauser pattern. All I have handled were good shooters. My 22 is marked from 25 to 200 meters and is dead on at those ranges with Remington ammo. The Sakrat on the side is SAFTEY by the way and nbot the name of the rifle.

Thanks for the replies. I took some pictures, but all they prove is that I am not, and will not be a professional photographer.

KCSO- the safety is not marked on this particular rifle. It is a Mauser type flag safety to the left is fire to the right is safe.

Ken, the model 25 is very similar to to the 26 that I have; with the exception of the sights on Simpson's website.

I don't feel so bad about paying $425 for this one after seeeing the prices Simpson's wants. the bluing is a conservative 98% on mine, with an excellent bore. The gun weighs 6 1/4 pounds, the barrel is .750" across the flats.

All in all I think it will be a good little gun for furbearers, there are a lot of coyotes close around my house, and I have seen bobcats and red foxex within a mile of home.

Oooooh! Gun porn!!!! Bad thing to tempt me with Bob!

Looks like a nice old rifle. The 32-20 in a long barrel becomes a whole new critter compared to a revolver.

What specific Rem. ammo? All of them i've tried do not regulate to sights at all.........on at 25 and close at 50, but all shoot high at longer ranges unless I shoot CB caps.

Pietro,

That looks like my Model 26, except mine has a twoleaf rear sight. Thanks for posting the picture.
