I see guys at guns wipe this stuff on that makes the finish look jet black and hide finish issues. Any ideas?

When I was at CST Bob Penney had us use Amsoil on a brown paper towel, like used to be in the gas station bathrooms, worked great.

Years ago at my brother`s general store he would first wipe the metal with 44/40 liquid blueing then (about 6 hrs. later) wipe them down with good old 3-in-1 oil.Robert

I have seen a gunshow scammer work over a pitted rifle before
He first cleaned off the oil
Then he used black and blue crayons to fill in the pits , then buffed it down with a rag
He then wiped a heavy oil over the top
On looking at the rifle later in the day
His work had made a pitted exterior look semi decent to a quick look over in the poor lighting
Probely would not past a hard look , but it definatly looked better
